If the 1998 Topps TEK set wasn't hard enough to complete for set collectors and player collectors alike; Topps dropped these on us! The 1998 Topps TEK Diffractor! The Diffractor pattern is a "cracked ice" type pattern of refractor-like foil added to these cards. They were allegedly inserted at a rate of 1:6 packs, but these things are tough to find! So tough, in fact, that it is largely accepted by collectors in the community that there are as few as 10 to 20 copies of each card. The Diffractor parallels are available for all 90 players in all 90 patterns with the exception of Pattern 49. To this day, no known copy of any player has a Diffractor - Pattern 49.
