This iconic card needs absolutely no introduction at all. But the story about how it came into my possession is a good one with some ups and downs.
On the afternoon of April 19, 2021 a friend of mine, and fellow Rolen collector, Michael Moler, sent me a message on Facebook telling me that he wanted to puke. I was a little confused at first and asked him what was going on. That's when he sent me a picture of a completed eBay sale for this 1998 Donruss Crusade Red of Scott Rolen. The listing was from April 17th and it showed that the card had sold for an unbelievably low price. Since I had been looking for this card for well over a decade, I was more than a little sad to see one finally sell without me seeing it listed.
Luck was on my side though, the guy who ended up with this card was not a Rolen collector and I didn't have to wait long to see this card resurface. Joe Lagreca ended up being the new owner of the card. I recognized Joe's name from a baseball card Facebook group we're both in. I reached out to Joe to see what I could to do to add this card to The Rolen Collection. After messaging back and forth a few times, a fair deal was made and this gorgeous card was on its way to me!
